2011 Nov 30

Samantha Massman, Osakis, is one of many students to receive scholarships from the University of Minnesota, Morris for the 2011–12 academic year. Massman is the recipient of the Edward J. and Hellen Jane Morrison Scholarship.

Edward and Helen Jane Morrison, longtime Morris residents who were instrumental in the establishment of the Morris campus, created these scholarships. The J. C. The Edna Murphy Morrison Scholarship is given in memory of Ed's mother and is awarded to a music major. Both are awarded based on academic merit. The Edward J. and Helen Jane Morrison Scholarship is awarded to first-year students with preference given to students from small towns or rural areas in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota. The Edward J. and Helen Jane Morrison Scholarship is renewable if recipients maintain a 3.0 grade point average or higher.

Massman, will graduate from Morris in 2013 with a major in elementary education and psychology.

More than 220 donors, scholarship recipients and family members attended the annual Scholarship Jubilee on October 8, a celebration to honor Morris's generous scholarship donors and talented scholarship recipients.
