Sadie Klar, of Hinckley Receives Scholarship From The University Of Minnesota, Morris

Sadie Klar, of Hinckley is one of many students to receive scholarships from the University of Minnesota, Morris for the 2013-14 academic year. Klar is the recipient of the Rural Students Scholarship.

This scholarship honors the proud heritage of the West Central School of Agriculture. Known for its student-centered approach to developing young men and women for life-long learning and leadership, the WCSA spirit flourishes today among its many alumni, and in the educational traditions reflected in the UMM campus community. This fund will provide renewable scholarships for new and transferring students from throughout greater Minnesota and the upper Midwest who wish to live and work in rural communities throughout the state, regardless of financial need. By preparing rural young men and women for successful lives as builders of our rural communities, we will deepen the base of wisdom in greater Minnesota and keep our communities strong. Even as Minnesota grows more urban, our ties to agriculture and rural communities recede with each generation, and the concerns of our rural communities become more remote.

Klar, will graduate from Morris in 2015 with a degree in music.

More than 300 donors, scholarship recipients and family members attended the annual Scholarship Jubilee on November 16, a celebration to honor Morris's generous scholarship donors and talented scholarship recipients.
