Molly Hesse, of Watkins Receives Scholarship From The University Of Minnesota, Morris

Molly Hesse, of Watkins is one of many students to receive scholarships from the University of Minnesota, Morris for the 2013-14 academic year. Hesse is the recipient of the Romilly Jean Cassida Memorial Scholarship.

An endowed scholarship, the Romilly Jean Cassida Memorial Scholarship supports new full-time students, including transfer students, who show academic promise. The award may be renewed for three additional years with satisfactory progress. Cassida graduated as salutatorian of Hancock High School’s Class of 1962. The studio art and psychology major received several scholarships and graduated with distinction from UMM in 1966. After a long successful career with Prudential, moving around the country and working her way up to vice president, she retired in 1998 and built her dream home on Whidbey Island in Washington State, where she made her home until her passing in December 2006. An artist and sculptor, she was widely read and enjoyed lively discussions, landscaping, gardening, interesting travels, and working on her home.

Hesse, will graduate from Morris in 2015 with a degree in elementary education.

More than 300 donors, scholarship recipients and family members attended the annual Scholarship Jubilee on November 16, a celebration to honor Morris's generous scholarship donors and talented scholarship recipients.
