Kiersty Jehoich, of St. Cloud Receives Scholarship From The University Of Minnesota, Morris

2014 Jan 17

Kiersty Jehoich, of St. Cloud is one of many students to receive scholarships from the University of Minnesota, Morris for the 2013-14 academic year. Jehoich is the recipient of the Dr. Dorthybelle McCree Kaufman Memorial Scholarship.

This scholarship is intended for women who are majoring in pre-medicine. It was established by the late Dr. Edward J. Kaufman in memory of his wife of more than 71 years, Dorothybelle. Ed and Dorothybelle met while they were both enrolled in the school of medicine at the University of Minnesota. They both graduated with doctor of medicine degrees in 1935 and set out to build careers, first in Anoka, Minnesota, then in Ed’s hometown of Appleton, where he joined a practice established by his uncle. Ed and Dorothybelle were brought up with the idea that the way to a successful life is through academics, so while he assisted in his uncle’s practice, she turned her attention to raising their children, inspiring them with the same philosophy of love and learning that they enjoyed as children.

Jehoich, will graduate from Morris in 2015 with a degree in psychology, pre medicine.

More than 300 donors, scholarship recipients and family members attended the annual Scholarship Jubilee on November 16, a celebration to honor Morris's generous scholarship donors and talented scholarship recipients.
